PRESENTER SET UP AND LOGISTICS

BEFORE THE CONFERENCE – checklist

Please try to be as self-sufficient as possible by using the information provided here, we will have IT support and such but it will be extremely busy in the morning.

General information

Sign-in/Registration at MPH building – Everyone must sign-in and collect your name badge!

  • Morning timeline
    • 8.00am Participants start arriving
    • 8.45am Participants Welcome – day begins
    • 9.00am Keynote Speaker – Brett Salakas, Hewlett Packard Education
    • 9.30am Participants move to workshops
    • 9.40am Rotation One Workshops start
  • If you need to drop off materials for your session
    • Park your vehicle in the Conference Presenter parking area (see ‘overall map’ pdf above).
    • Sign-in first, collect nametag, find out which area you are assigned, then drop off materials.

All presenters for the conference will sign in inside the MPH. (The attendees will get their nametags, conference booklets and other materials at the registration table and will be informed of any school safety protocols). All presenters must get their nametags and conference booklets before setting up.

  • Wifi
    • 120 Wifi vouchers will be created for the day and presenters can pick up what you need for your Expo or workshop session when you sign in.
      • Each WiFi voucher will be an individual slip that contains:
        a) WiFi SSID to connect to
        b) unique password
        c) up to 3 devices can share the same voucher
      • Each token is valid for only 24 hours.
      • Upon connecting, please ensure that the first website you visit is a .com.au domain (eg nine.com.au), otherwise it may not connect.

 



Arrive 7.45am to 8.15am

(ROTATION ONE is scheduled to begin at 9.40am however it may start earlier or slightly later depending on the keynote)

STEM EXPO presenters: you are in the MPH building (see draft layout) – same place as the Keynote

    • Bring your own trestle cloths, extension cords and power boards if you are using power. There are power access points near the tables of those who have told us they require power.
    • STEM EXPO be set up by 8.30am to not disturb the conference opening and keynote speaker
    • Note: Be aware that there will be students ranging from Year 4 to 10 in the EXPO who will visit your activities.

ROTATION ONE Workshop presenters: set up and ready to start by 9.30am. NOTE: your room may have a workshop running in rotation two and they will set up at the end of your session.

    • *updated 5th JUN* You will need to bring your own laptops and presentation clickers.
    • Islamic College of Brisbane (ICB) has been moving to wireless connections
        • Windows Devices: ctrl+k will allow you to connect to the TV / projector in the room
        • Apple devices (macbooks/ipads) will require your own Apple to HDMI adapter before connecting to the projector. If internet is not required during the presentation, it is possible to connect wirelessly using the projector’s wifi.
        • All projectors will also accept HDMI input but the school has limited HDMI cables due to their shift to wireless connection if you don’t want to connect wirelessly
    • IT staff will be available in the morning to assist.

PROBLEM SOLVER presenters arrive with enough time to park, find your room, and set up. NOTE: your room may have a rotation one workshop finishing up at 10.20am.

    • Problem Solver Session be ready to begin at 11.00am
    • Sign-in first at MPH foyer: sign-in and collect name tag
    • Let us know you have arrived – send a text to Adrian 0413 036 382

 



(12.25pm to 12.55pm – lunch)

(1.00pm Keynote Speaker: Dr Tatheer Zahra, Composite Materials Engineer, Superstar of STEM, QUT)

Arrive 12.45pm to 1.00pm

ROTATION TWO Workshop presenters – arrive with enough time to park, find your room, and set up.

    • Rotation Two workshops be ready to start at 1.40pm
    • Sign-in first at MPH foyer: sign-in and collect name tag
    • Let us know you have arrived – send a text to Adrian 0413 036 382
